Visa’s Acquirer Monitoring Program (VAMP) measures fraud and disputes in Visa card-not-present activity. A merchant’s own acquirer can explain which program measures, transaction counts, regional thresholds and account terms apply. Cybin can help organize the records needed for that conversation; it cannot determine an account’s program status.
Start with the actual Visa reporting period
Visa’s published 2025 fact sheet describes a count-based ratio using reported fraud and disputes against settled card-not-present VisaNet transactions, with specified exclusions and timing conditions. It describes merchant and acquirer thresholds separately, and its 2026 threshold change is subject to regional and minimum-count conditions. Request the latest written rules and your actual monthly report from your acquirer rather than treating a single percentage as a universal trigger.
- Request monthly Visa fraud, dispute and settled-transaction counts and the applicable calculation period.
- Ask whether your acquirer or merchant account has been identified, which thresholds and minimum counts apply, and how remediation is communicated.
- Reconcile pre-dispute resolutions, fraud reports and corrections with the acquirer; eligibility and reporting timing matter.
- Keep Mastercard reporting separate and ask for its applicable program definitions.
Turn the report into an operating plan
Group disputes by actual cause: unrecognized descriptors, delayed fulfillment, subscription renewals, unauthorized transactions, refunds or support issues. Assign an owner and a measurable action for each recurring issue. Preserve the original customer authorization, order record, delivery evidence and communications in accordance with your retention and privacy obligations.
Ask about tools and written terms
Ask which alert services, authentication options or evidence tools the provider supports, their coverage, response deadlines and fees. An alert, refund or dispute response does not guarantee a lower ratio or a favorable outcome. Review reserve changes, monitoring charges and account restrictions in your own agreement; do not assume a fixed per-transaction fee or grace period.
Prepare for a processing review
Provide the actual catalog, channels, customer locations, recent processing history, dispute and refund trends, fulfillment policies and expected volume. Explain changes already made and the evidence available. The processor or acquiring bank decides eligibility, pricing and account terms.
