High-Risk Merchant Account Health Check: A Practical Review

Use this practical checklist to review processing volume, disputes, reserves, checkout security and provider terms.

A regular merchant-account review brings processing history, customer experience, security and written terms into one place. The checklist below is a preparation aid for the actual business; network rules, legal requirements and account terms depend on the provider, products and markets.

1. Compare account capacity with real sales

  • Record current and seasonal monthly volume, typical and largest transactions, and changes in products or countries served.
  • Compare those figures with written limits and explain planned changes to the provider before routing them.
  • Review recent statements, funding delays, fees and reserve balances against the agreement.

2. Review fraud, disputes and customer experience

Reconcile fraud and dispute reports by network, reason and reporting period. Ask the acquirer for the current monitoring rules and account-specific conditions. Review authorization, descriptors, fulfillment, cancellation, refunds and customer support for causes that can be addressed; a successful dispute response does not guarantee a network-reporting exclusion.

3. Examine checkout and recurring payments

Map where payment information is entered and which parties operate each component. The PCI Security Standards Council explains that the SAQ A script eligibility criterion differs for embedded payment forms and full redirects. Confirm the appropriate assessment, current requirements and responsibilities with your acquirer or qualified assessor. For recurring sales, review how customers agree, renew, cancel and get support.

4. Refresh product and operating records

  • Keep the complete catalog, applicable licenses, supplier evidence and marketing consistent with the application.
  • Review fulfillment, delivery evidence, refunds and complaint handling for each sales channel.
  • Record ownership, business locations and the role of other providers in the flow of funds.
  • Check any regulatory change using current primary sources and qualified advice; do not assume one rule applies to every product.

5. Compare terms and contingency options

Ask the acquirer about renewal, reserves, funding holds, reporting, support and termination. If you need another processor or payment method, confirm written approval for the actual activity before using it. Cybin can help organize the file and compare offers; providers make the underwriting decision.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I perform this review?

Choose a cadence that fits your volume, business changes and provider requirements, and review immediately after a significant issue or change.

Does a backup payment provider guarantee uninterrupted processing?

No. Each provider must approve the actual business and its own operational, contractual and capacity requirements.

SARMs

FDA states that SARMs are not approved and cannot currently be legally marketed in the United States as dietary supplements or drugs. It also warns of serious health risks. A research-only label does not by itself resolve how a product is classified: FDA has evaluated the full labeling and website claims in enforcement actions. Seek qualified legal advice on the actual product and activities before applying; any payment review is separate and does not establish legal compliance.
